This ESPN Streak for the Cash game is addicting. It’s probably my new favorite web site, ahead of Facebook. I’ve had a lot of success this month (.667 win %), and it’s making me look like a sports genius.
Streak for the Cash is a sports prop game, where you select matchups from the current day that might be like “Who will WIN this Matchup? or “How many TOTAL RUNS will be SCORED?” Some props are easy to pick a side on, while others are very difficult.
None the less, I’m currently sitting at a positive 7, and hoping to be at +8 by the end of the night. What really entices me to play this game is having a sports knowledge while doing research along the way. But more so than that is money. Before April, if you built the biggest streak in the country, you qualified for $1 million. Only one guy reached that milestone. Now the game rewards the top seven guys who put together the longest streaks by December with $10,000. Right now, the longest is +18. Essentially, I’m a third of the way there. And what would I do with $10,000 dollars guaranteed? Probably make the Huskers bowl game trip or just save for a future buy.
But for tonight, I feel most comfortable picking the Dallas Mavericks over the Houston Rockets, especially with the game being in Dallas. I’m putting trust in Dirk to have a big game and the ‘JET’ Jason Terry to hit some clutch buckets. I know it’s going to be a grinder. My gut instinct is the Mavs. Following that matchup, which is in ESPN-HD tonight at 7:00 p.m., I’m leaning towards the Portland Trailblazers over the Denver Nuggets. The two hottest teams in the NBA battle here, but the deciding factor is that the game is at the Rose Garden. If Portland can take down the Lakers at home, why not the No. 2 seed in the West with the Nuggets. Nuggets are proven at home, but not proven on the road. It might be a little risky with a possible +8 riding on them.
No doubt I’ll be glued to the Hi-Def set tonight with these games. Hopefully the ball bounces my way, and I’ll sit at +7 to start. Keep a tab on my ESPN profile for sure! And if you decide to play the game as well, let me know and I’ll get you in the group for fellow Kearney-ites.
